Probiotics, I’m sure you have heard about them by now. I’ve seen them explode in popularity in the last year. Now with all the brands and information it can be somewhat overwhelming. Here is the thing, gut health is extremely important, eating probiotic rich food is great for your gut! Probiotics have helped my digestive system immensely! When I started consuming probiotics I noticed my digestion improved and I didn’t get so bloated after meals.
If I don’t eat this yogurt I will take a daily probiotic supplement. I’m usually a die-hard for this yogurt though, I pretty much use it as my main breakfast topping. I love it on top of protein bars, smoothies, oatmeal, chocolate, banana bread, and FIGSS… you have to try it on a fig YUMMY!
I have noticed a huge difference in my health from probiotics!! I was a frequent buyer of probiotic yogurt, which is extremely expensive! As much as I see my health as an investment I also have to be mindful, I have two little kids and bills to pay. I set out to make my own probiotic yogurt, first round canned coconut cream. This was actually so close to yogurt texture and better tasting than any store-bought coconut yogurt. However, being a big fan of the store-bought probiotic yogurt jars I wanted something that tasted closer to those product. I did my research on what ingredients they use, and got the same. I found a bag of frozen coconut meat at Trader Joe’s, sure beat opening and digging the meat out of young coconuts. I will never make probiotic yogurt any other way! The texture was perfect, the taste was amazing, it was love at first bite!
Now I don’t want to deceive anyone, this yogurt does ferment so it has fermented foods taste. You can sweeten it if you like, for myself I like it as is! A lot of times I find with others that fermented foods are an acquired taste, so if your new to them don’t get discouraged!! I used to loath kombucha, now I love it!
I made this batch mango flavor, but feel free to add any flavor you like.

Gut health!! Tangy yogurt!!
- 16 oz (1 lb) Just Coconut Chunks I got mine at Trader Joes
- 1 cup diced mango
- 6 probiotic capsules or 1 scoop Master Blend Probiotics (G&W herbs)
- 3/4 cup water
Defrost your coconut chunks. I usually leave the bag in the fridge the day before I'm going to use it.
In a high speed blender, blend your coconut chunks. Slowly add in water as needed to help blending. I had to use my blender stick often as the mixture is extremely thick. It took about 3 minuets for me to break down coconut meat into smooth mixture.
Add in mango and keep blending.
Empty the probiotic capsules into a small bowl and dispose of caps. Add the powder into your blender and keep blending another 2 minutes.
Pour your yogurt into a glass jar with a little room at the top, about a inch. Cover with cheese cloth or nut milk bag, and place a rubber band around cloth. Place on counter top and let the magic happen.
24hrs later check your yourgurt, taste and smell. (Mine took 27 hrs) Once fermentation takes place go ahead and stick it in the fridge to cool.
If you are new to probiotic yogurt, start small and see how your body reacts.
It is amazing for digestion, and getting things moving, if you know what I mean!
