A new favorite in the Carrera household and I am positive this Garlic Brown Sugar Chicken will be a favorite in your house too! Made with simple ingredients and very minimal active cooking. This chicken is best served with some rice and tons of sauce.

There is nothing I love more than a hot meal on a cold day. The fall season is finally starting to creep in and the weather is cooling off. Now I do love all the freshness of summer mills and BBQ’s but cooking in the fall just speaks to my soul. And it’s the only time I can turn on the oven and not be bothered by the heat!
This Garlic Brown Sugar Chicken is truly a recipe you’re going to keep on hand. The kids and hubby went crazy for it! My oldest daughter is my picky one, and she loved it! She bounces between the idea that she’s vegetarian unless I make something she likes, it drives me nuts haha!

How to Make Garlic Brown Sugar Chicken
This recipe is easy with minimal active cooking time. I don’t recommend a stovetop as the sauce will burn quickly in a hot pan.
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Pat chicken dry with paper towels, discard the towels.
- Make the sauce by combining the chicken broth, brown sugar, sriracha, garlic, soy sauce, and black pepper. Bring sauce to a simmer whisking frequently. Pour half the sauce into your baking dish. And the other half on top of your chicken in your baking dish. Cook for 40 minutes, or until chicken is done 165 ºF.
- Garnish with green onion and sesame seeds. Best served with starch and lots of sauce.

Can I Use Chicken Breast?
Absolutely, chicken breast or chicken thighs both work great for the recipe. Depending on the size and thickness of the chicken cooking time will vary. If you use bone-in or skin on cooking time will be longer.

Do you cover it or no while its in the oven?
No! Chicken thighs stay pretty juicy!! If you’re using chicken breast I would cover it for the last 10 minutes
Thanks I have 2 whole chickens that I cut up and was wondering what to do with them and this looks perfect! What about turning them halfway into the cooking or this is just a set in oven and walk away deal?
I just sent mine in the oven and walk away! But pieces of chicken with bone in and skin on Will take a little longer to cook!! Sounds amazing!
Will let you know very soon!
Let me tell you… this is a amazing easy dish! I used 2 chickens (18 pieces) the same way as the recipe just doubled the ingredients, let it cook uncovered for 40 minutes then flipped the chicken and let cook for 30 more minutes, flipped them one more time and cooked for 30 more minutes, total time 1 hour 40 minutes. The sauce reduced so nicely and its amazing over the rice or vegetables!!! The chicken has that caramelized sweet glaze from the sauce this is a simple yet elegant dinner. Amazing and thank you for this recipe!! I need to send you the pictures!
Now I’m hungry! Ha!! Sounds incredible 💖
